Though Mountaineering is our name, we do far more than that - pretty much any outdoor activity you could think of, including all disciplines of climbing as well as scrambling and walking.  Every year we welcome a large group of new members to the club and help them develop their skills both on and off the hills, having as much fun as we can while we’re doing it. Over the course of the year, we run multiple trips, letting members experience everything from Sport Climbing on Welsh Slate, to Bouldering on Peak District Grit, to Ice and Snow up in the Cairngorms. We also have regular climbing meetups at the local bouldering gym and a good social scene to entertain us at home.

Our memberships this year will be £76.

This fee allows us to: buy more gear; subsidise trips, accommodation, and transport; buy BMC memberships for our club membership (amongst a whole plethora of other things) - plus a discount on memberships at our local climbing center, The Climbing Station.

Any level of experience can join the club and we welcome people who have never climbed before to those crushing super gnarly routes. Our more experienced members are always happy to help you out, and as a club, we run training on strength and technique as well as the more technical aspects, such as rope work and staying safe on a mountain. For those who can climb hard, we compete in BUCS Climbing which is run as a Bouldering competition in Sheffield. We also have a lead climbing competition against Nottingham that we are looking to win again this year!

Members are welcome to borrow all the gear that the club owns (as long as you look after it), which ranges from Bouldering mats and climbing racks to tents, sleeping bags, and first aid equipment.
